This video posting is from a Wedding gig we performed at at the Inn at Longshore in Westport, CT. The couple’s families were traditionally Italian and Greek. This mix made for a great, fun crowd. They danced all night and even did some traditional Italian Jig, and Greek “opa” numbers!. Check out the video below of our dance floor. You can also see the custom monogram with the couples’ initials displayed on the dance floor. Enjoy!
On a cool Fall night of September 22nd 2012 we setup a large sound system and 10 foot lighting system for over 600 students. In the distance you could hear the sounds of a high school football field, as Woodstock Academy wrapped up their homecoming game that night.
at about 6 o’clock students started rolling into their gymnasium, dressed for their 2012 Homecoming affair. We started with some slower background tunes while the students mingled and ate light snacks. The party quickly kicked off with high energy Top 40 dance music for over 3 hours. The dance floor was hopping all night long, with all radio edits of the most popular tunes the kids enjoy. We took requests and kept the party flowing without any interruption all night.
We paused the dance briefly to announce the homecoming court, and of course the King and Queen. The Homecoming court danced together to “A Moment Like This” by Kelly Clarkson.
Below is a You Tube video of some high energy dancing we caught throughout the night. Check out the effect the lighting has on the energy of the crowd during dancing.
Hawaiian Luau Theme Double Birthday Party. DJ, Lighting and Video Screen for Slide Show. East Hartford, CT.
We had the pleasure of providing DJ Services for a creative young couple at Tastebuds Catering facility in East Hartford, CT. This was a combination Birthday Celebration, celebration Heather’s 30th and Husband Matt’s 40th. The theme was ”Hawaiian Luau“, with Tiki style decorations and an authentic Hawaiian meal to match. Even the cake had a Tropical Sunset feel to it.
We provided a Video Screen for the family slide show, was was assembled by us via prints which we digitized as well for the couple. The slide show was a hit, as many of the pictures featured a number of the party guests in their early years. Music for Dinner kept with the Island theme and included Beach Style tunes from artists such as The Beach Boys, Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet of course. We also provided dance floor wash lighting, which was set to match the party’s themeduring Dinner. The lighting then took on the energy of the party and was computer controlled and changed to beat of the music.
We had an appearence for the children by “Mr. Chicken”, who performed the Chicken Dancealong with the younger guests, and enthuastic adults.
Many of the guests were close family and friends, which included many couples. We had a few chances to play some slow requests for a chance for romance. Bubbles enhanced this romantic setting, and provided entertainment for the kidsof course.
And what Hawaiian Theme party would be complete without the Limbo? We had a long 3 song Limbo set, with just about all of the guests getting involved, without injury… wink, wink.

“thank you mike! you kept us dancing all night! we had a blast!” -Taylor
This past weekend we performed DJ services with Ceremony Music, Reception Dance Party and lighting at for a beautiful young couple. This Wedding was held at the beautiful grounds of the Candlelight Farms Inn in New Milford, CT. The couples names were Ryan and Taylor. They had a small Bridal Party with only 4 close friends and family members, and no designated Best Man or Maid of Honor. We started the day out with a small PA system outside for the ceremony, with a wireless microphone for the Master of Ceremony. The speakers were turned to the small gazeebo area where they had an outside cocktail hour, with light background music. We then moved inside with the main system and deluxe lighting for their specialty dances. Below are some picture soy their First Dance and Father Daughter Dance. Taylor’s Father surprised with the song selection of “My Girl” by The Temptations, Taylor was pleasantly surprised. We then had another small PA system for their dinner hour which held outside in a third locate under a tent. The night finished off with 3 hours of energy filled dancing, with high impact dance floor lighting. Check out some of the video from our packed dance floor, they danced from daylight till nighttime! Thanks to Karen and Nancy of Candlelight Farms for an awesome time working together for a very successful and fun Wedding.

This weekend we performed DJ services with a small ceremony setup for Stan and Kelly on the beach of Westbrook, CT.
We provided a wireless microphone and stand for the Justice of the Peace to perform the ceremony and vows. The first dance was done under the beautiful sun, with guests joining in as well. Their first dance was to Steve Tyrell’s version of “At Last”. CT Party Studios’ own Event Planner Carlos was on site, making sure everything went according to plan. The cake was a beautiful 3D landscape of the beach, with white chocolate starfish an shell accents. It was almost too beautiful to eat, almost. The cake cutting was coordinated with the help of DJ Mike and went well, Stan kept it “clean”. The cake was made by the CT Culinary Institute Students. Another beautifulCT beach Wedding in the books focus! Thanks Stan & Kelly!
This month we are featuring a popular but sometimes forgotten effect that adds magic to any first dance, kids party or corporate affair. the bubble effect is a dramatic showering of bubbles raining down from the ceiling creating shiny circle in all directions around the dance floor. This effect is often attempted to be duplicated with the passing out of small containers of soap bubbles to guests. The object is to have as many guests as possible blow tiny amounts of bubbles until they’re blue in the face, in hopes that the combined effort produces enough sustained bubbles to create a massive showering. This theory is good, but flawed. First of all, your guests may find that the time they spend trying to maintain bubble flow is time they could be enjoying the party, and taking pictures and videos of these memories. Secondly, the cheaper soap bubbles can sometimes lead to a sticky mess. Professional bubble machines offer a solution to this with special quick dry no mess bubble mixtures. And last, but not least, the small containers of soap bubbles run out quickly, and can leave you wanting more for the rest of your special dance or simply the rest of the party. Our bubble experience package comes with the ability to use up to a gallon of bubble solution. That’s over 10 hours of non-stop, continuous bubbles.
Now that we covered the general benefits of our bubble experience, lets see one specific reason why this effect can make your special day so much more memorable. as pictured below, the larger bubbles produced from a professional bubble machine reflect more light than small soap bubbles. This reflected light causes shimmers of rainbow color , which sparkle as they fall slowly to the dance floor. This effect is often dramatically increased with the use of professional photography and creates unique memories that your guests will share for years to come. Contact us today for more information to add this magical experience to any DJ package. Bubble packages are offered at a limited quantity per day so act quickly.
Wedding Disk Jockey Entertainment Services at J. Timothy’s in Plainville, CT. Reception Music and Uplighting.
We were a part of another beautiful engagement of a couple I met many months back, very near to their reception venue. The Reception was held at J. Timothy’s Taverne in Plainville, CT. We provided some complimentary uplighting of the fireplace, appetizer table and sweetheart table to add some ambiance. We also provided some dance floor lighting, which can be seen in the video below. Online planning before the event was simple, with the couple only choosing their specialty songs, including their first dance song which was “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. After introductions and their First Dance, we sat down to dinner of J. Timothys’ famous 1 million ounce size prime rib. The small crowd of about 50 stayed through the entire night and danced to oldies, Top 40 and even some line dances. Please check out our pictures and video below.
Here’s what the bride and groom had to say on Wedding Wire about our services:
-“Everything was great, Mike followed our requests & had everything lined up without any issues. I would definitely recommend!” Ashley 05/31/12
-Our DJ was the best! He played exactly what we wanted for our wedding reception. There were no surprises. No one getting pulled out of there chairs like some other DJ’s do….. if anyone had any requests; they were played! I can’t say enough good things about Mike and CT Party Studios. If you use CT Party Studios you won’t be let down!!” Dan 06/01/12
Here’s a tweet from @jtimothys about working with us that night:
@CTPartyStudios Great write-up of the wedding reception we had last week! Photos/video excellent, as were your DJ & lighting. Thanks!

DJ Entertainment Services at Rotary Carnival in Norwich, CT. Music, Dancing, Contests and Family Fun all Memorial Day Weekend.
This Memorial Day weekend we were honored to be asked to be a part of the 5 day Family carnival at the Marina in Norwich. We provided Disk Jockey Entertainment Services for all 5 days of the Carnival. We had different DJ’s, with different styles, all providing the crowds of hundreds with good music, fun and contests. Thursday and Saturday DJ Alex spun all of the most popular music, along with a good mix of Latin favorites. On Friday DJ Cee kept the crowd going with Motown, 80′s and Top 40. DJ Cee even hosted several successful dance contests throughout the night. On Sunday DJ Mike Ortiz entertained the daytime crowds with some Classic Rock, Top 40 and everything in between. The crowds seemed very thrilled with having us there to add to their entertainment value for the days and nights of the carnival. We were very fortunate to have great crowds that were able to be engaged and entertained so that our DJ’s could showcase real entertaining abilities instead of simply standing and play music in the background of all the excitement of the carnival fun. Check out our pictures of some dancing and contests below.
As you can tell from the featured image, we had a fun time providing DJ Services for a Wedding Reception & Ceremony this weekend. The young couple were Leo & Elizabeth. The Ceremony & Reception were both held at the beautiful Wrights Mill Farm in Canterbury, CT. The vows were performed outside with a justice of the peace. The Wrights Mill has a rolling waterfall area with benches to accomodate a small to medium size gathering for your ceremony. We provided Music and a Wreless Microphone for the Ceremony outside, with a small portable PA system. The Wrights Mill provided us with power via a low noise generator.
The Wedding Reception was moved inside with a cocktail hour prior to the introduction of the Bridal Party and The Bride & Groom. DJ Bobby introduced the couple into the room with high energy to the song “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge, per the couple’s request. They went right into their first dance, which they chose the song “Without You” by Keith Urban.
Dinner was served, with the Bride & Groom sitting with their Bridal Party at a traditional long head table. Below is a picture we took prior to guests arriving of the room and decorations. The most interesting thing about the beautifully decorated room was that the Bride & Groom did all decorating, centerpeices and favors themselves. When I met with the couple about 2 months before their Wedding, they had boxes of ribbons and favors scattered about, which they were tediously assembling themselves. On the afternoon of the actual Wedding day, I saw Leo and he had mentioned he was at the venue early in the morning to setup the decorations and centerpeices, even the pretty folding of the purple napkins. It was impressive to see how a little bit of extra effort on both their parts helped them control their Wedding Budget.
The Groom contacted us a few days prior to the Wedding to make a small music change. This request involved the Cake Cutting. He wanted the DJ to switch the music from the original requested song “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor, to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benetar. He wanted this to be switched after they had cut the cake and when it was his turn to feed his Bride. He was planning to surprise his new Wife with a messy display of affection. The Bride had no hesitation in giving it right back, as you can see.
The music for dancing ranged from Classic rock, to newer Country and Top 40. The staff at the Wrights Mill was professional as always. We would like to than Leo & Elizabeth for sharing their Wedding Day with us as their DJ.
This weekend ended with a hopping Jr prom at the Farmington Club in Farmington, CT. DJ Mike entertained about 300 students and 10 or so chaperones. We started out with some light dinner music, and a buffet meal. At about 7 p.m. we opened the dance floor with all the hottest Top 40 music as requested by the students. Our setup included a dual subwoofer sound system for extra bass, and a led light show. We also used spots to highlight certain areas of the room and to spotlight the King and Queen during presentation of the court. Keep in mind, while we were able to accomodate most of the student’s music requests, we did refrain from many songs with vulgar or sexual content per our policy. Check out our setup and dance floor pics below.
